I bought this accidentally when I hit the 'One Click' button instead of the sample and I'm glad I did. While it did cut off before everything got tied up the characters and well written descriptions made up for it. I like Zoe and she's not written like most orphans that find out their magical and Evan isn't written like the typical guy that sweeps her off her feet. Their romance is slow to build and believable as is his other relationship. Eva is a sweet character as well just as Korina is a devious one. While I didn't know Thea long I felt it worked because Zoe doesn't get to know her long either so you can understand and feel for Zoe as her world unfolds in real time. I look forward to the sequel especially as Kyra learns the truth about herself and her 'mother'.Tags : Zoe Thanatos - Kindle edition by Crystal Cierlak. Zoe Thanatos edition by Crystal Cierlak Romance eBooks Reviews
Wow I must say this author created an amazingly detailed and interesting new world and yet tied it to ours in a unique story. I was on edge much of the time wondering what came next, and for me that is unusual since I can usually guess what is going to happen in movies and books way before it actually does in the story. It was left in a state of suspense so I'll have to get the next book to satisfy my curiosity. Definitely worth the read and is suitable for any age since there is no sexual content beyond the mention of an affair and a kiss.
The book started off in an interesting way, but it devolved into just a royal romance shortly thereafter. I prefer science fiction and mysteries--I should have stayed away from this one. Not that it is bad--it reminds me of paper dolls all surface and no depth. If you are into romance, you may enjoy it.
Zoe Thanatos is not the typical read. At first it starts out like a romance - a beautiful woman gets noticed by a handsome man, but then it changes.
Zoe is not happy. On her 25th birthday she heads up to Santa Cruz island. She wants to pick a beautiful spot to end her short life.
The handsome man, Evan, seems to be following Zoe around the island. He catches a glimpse of her on top of the cliff and in that moment he knows what she is going to do. Using a power that is not known to anyone on Earth, he saves her.
Zoe is unsure of what happens. She demands answers from him, and end up finding out more then she wanted to know.
This is the start of a great paranormal series. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
I read this book and it was really good until the end. It ended with a cliffhanger so of course I searched for the continuation when I finished only to discover that even though the book was written in 2012 and and it is now nearing the end of 2014 there is no 2nd book.
So basically I just waisted my time reading 300 pages only to discover that there is no end. Very annoyed.
4.5 Stars of Awesome!
Zoe Thanatos is one of those books that kind of grabs you like a boss and drags you along for the ride of your life, dropping you off at the end to leave you breathless, exhilerated, and totally wow'ed. Seriously, this book rocked my FACE off!
When I read a YA novel, the first thing I look at is the female lead. Is she spineless? Like Bella Swan or Ana Steele? Or is she a freaking bad-ass with nothing better to do than kick butt and dominate (you guessed it) like a boss? Zoe Thanatos is the latter. Her character goes through a HUGE transformation that's absolutely fascinating, and I just loved how just when she thought she had given up, something happened to make her soften her resolve.
Speaking of that "something," we arrive at Evander Nero. Gahhhhh!! <3 That man is SO darn sexy that I just might die. His green eyes sound so beautiful, and his personality is so reserved...he does what he has to do, no matter how much it hurts him to do it. And his relationships with Zoe and the Queen are SO crazy! There's so much tension inside him because he can't choose between one or the other. Personally, I think he should forget about both of them and marry me instead ;)
I absolutely LOVE the concept of this book, too! Alternate universes, nutrition replicators, transporters, royal families intent on destroying one another... Something I don't think I've come across in quite a long time. The action was awesome, and the course of events left me intrigued! It wasn't so difficult to understand that I ended up getting lost, but it wasn't super easy to figure out either. In my opinion, Crystal achieved the perfect balance there.
While there were some grammar mistakes (which, let's be honest, every book has them) and certain things that made me turn my head like "huh?", most of the time I was too engrossed in the story to notice that stuff.
Loved, loved, loved this! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys an action-packed sci-fi fantasy, and just anyone looking for a great read! Fascinating characters, premise, and story-line, leaving me with just enough to want to die in anticipation for Book 2! )
Zoe's life is sad until circumstances conspire to lead her into an adventure and self awareness she never expected. My only regret is the story ends too soon.
Zoe Thanatos is a good read. The story was interesting and Cierlak's writing is lyrical. The beginning is a little slow, but half way through the book the story picks up the pace and turns into a page turner. If you're looking for a soft introduction to the sci-fi genre, this is your book.
