As a publisher, I have so many books to read on a weekly basis until, I don't think I have ever read an urban fiction book before today. But I fell in love with these ladies immediately. Maxine, Joy and Gabby (who could actually be satan) were entertaining and full of drama. Reading this book was like reading the transcripts of a reality show. Honestly, as a woman, a black woman, there was a part of each of them that I could identify with. Certainly one more than the other two, but still, I felt all the emotions of watching a good movie. I was laughing on one page but crying when I read another.

I read sixty percent of the book in two days because I really could not put the book down! God forgive me, but I was actually in Church sneaking to read a few pages. If you want an entertaining read, "Where Did We Go Wrong?" is definitely it.

I am so impressed with this author. Not only is she humble but she is a damn good writer. She takes the reader along for the ride. Where Did We Go Wrong is based in the DMV area. It's a story about three women who have been friends since college. She details their lives separately as well as together. Their ups and downs make you want to scream sometime and actually talk to them out loud. This book is so good I could actually see it on Lifetime. She has written a story about three women, the men they love and families with out overdoing it. I definitely look forward to hearing more about Joy, Gabby and Maxine as well as Joy's mother Bea. This was a well written story and the editing was on point too. I take my hat off to Ms. Stowe for a fantastic job. Kudos! This is definitely a must read.

When I first started reading this book, I didn't think I would be able to finish because I couldn't deal with Gabby. However when I got to the end and saw that there was a sequel, I immediately went to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, , and Google to find the next part because I wanted to start it that night.

This authoress (in my Mya from Girlfiends voice) deserves her props.

Gabby she is such a liar and a user but you can't really be mad because the men are wimps and their demeanor leaves them wide open. You can sort of understand her reaction to Williams' sister after she puts her out on the streets - even though you know she ain't right.

Maxine in this day and age you better get your head outta the clouds and star looking at the checkbook. You better remember AFLAC, girl!

Joy all these women out her looking for a good man and you got a great one. Get off the tit and pack your bags.
This book grabbed me from the first chapter.

Gabby is a self centered scheming diva. She's hatched the perfect scheme to keep money in her pocket and a happy home. However, when someone refuses to go away quietly her plan backfires.

Joy, really needs to buy a clue. In an effort to please her mother, she lets the man of her life slip through her fingers. She could have stopped all the drama at the alter. Instead she married the wrong man and that might end up being the worst decision of her life.

Maxine, her weak character irriatated me the most. When she should have been taking a stand, she didn't. She really needs to swallow a big cup of grown woman syrup.

I wish the book would've had more strong male figures in the novel. I look forward to reading more from the author.
“Where Did We Go Wrong” by Monica Mathis- Stowe was a hell of a ride from beginning to end! It is the story of three friends Gabby, Joy and Maxine. Gabby is the epitome of a gold digger. Deciding to have her cake and eat it too, she soon gets caught up in her own lies. Joy is in love with the man of her dreams but after keeping him a secret for so many years, she’s forced to make the ultimate decision. Maxine seems to have it altogether but behind closed doors her life, and marriage, is in shambles. Through friendship, these ladies uplift each other and try to find out exactly where it was that they went wrong.
“Where Did We Go Wrong” held my attention from page one. It deals with love, domestic abuse, and so many more issues. I could easily identify with each of the characters inside of this book. The story line was fast paced and enjoyable. I loved the twists; there was nothing predictable about this book! I look forward to reading the sequel “Where Did We Go Wrong Again”. 5 stars!!!

The problem with a book like this one is The bar is set so high! I think I get the problem an addict might face now. They are constantly chasing a high, higher than the one before. Needless to say, this book right here will have to go on my list of best books ever read! Every single chapter, except for maybe the first 1 or 2, was just climatic! It was something else. My emotions were on a roller-coaster ride fo'sho!

What an awesome read! When I write a review, I usually don't talk much about what happened in the book; I try to share the excitement that I got from reading and hopefully you as readers will feel what I felt and will give it a try. I read reviews to see if I can find a book that might pique my interest. That's what I did with this book. The reviews were very positive and I wanted to see what the hype was all about. I am so glad I did! Once I started, I couldn't stop reading! I was up early and late trying to find out what in the hell was next with Gabby, Maxine, and Joy! I didn't want it to end! I finished it too quickly- in about 2 days. It was sexy, loving, sad, foul, fearful, dramatic, unpredictable, and most of all soooo real! This author has developed characters that just jump off the page at you. She knocked this out of the park with the character and story development. The story was weaved and flowed like something that veteran authors can't do. I see this author up there with the best of them. Kudos to you- my sista. I loved it!
