Don't Ask Me Now Harlequin Presents No 984 Emma Darcy 9780373109845 Books

For this genre and the time it was published, 1986, this story was pretty different. That's the reason I like it. Back in the 80s, usually the young woman is single and somewhat meek, the guy is this super rich alpha male, yada, yada, yada. They meet, she's immediately smitten or hates him for some reason or has a boyfriend who's a jerk, or has a boyfriend who's super nice but she's settling, he dominates her, they fall in love, the end. This one is not like that. In this story, the two main characters, Cathy and Thomas, are already boyfriend and girlfriend and she really cares about him but she's also still into her ex. I like the fact that the hero wasn't the usual swaggering billionaire and that she had issues but she wasn't a ding bat.

Don't Ask Me Now Harlequin Presents No 984 Emma Darcy 9780373109845 Books Reviews

I really liked this story because, as the other reviewers stated, it's a different concept (and a relatively realistic one at that). It's a TRUE love triangle and the heroine doesn't finally make up her mind until relatively late in the story. The reader of the story is unsure of who the true H is. One of the heroes could be the flashy, rich, possessive, and handsome heir to a great estate while the other is a true-blue, good-looking, dependable friend who is hopelessly in love with the h. The internal struggle of the h is central to this book and when she figures it out, it's realistic and a bit of a relief. By that time, the reader can see what is going on.
